With all the news coming out of Star Wars Celebration, from the new YouTube series Forces of Destiny, the Carrie Fisher Tribute, and rare never before seen footage from the original trilogy, then news that Billy Dee Williams announced he isn’t reprising his role as Lando for episode 8 hits the interwebs and I can’t help but wonder what’s going on.
At his Smooth Talking panel, Billy confirmed that he has no part in the upcoming movie. What gives Disney? He played major roles in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. He even fired the killing blow to the second Death Star yet he can’t even get a cameo? Then next time we are scheduled to see Lando is in the Han Solo stand alone movie and unless old Lando is telling the story like in Young Guns, we will only see Donald Glover who has been cast in the roll. Even Bail Organa had a cameo in Rogue One, and the scene where he steps from the shadows honestly seemed very forced on us, so why can’t Billy Dee at least get some sort of fanservice, what gives Disney?
